Student Success

  • Provide opportunities to all 
    • Provide an opportunity for each child to be challenged and grow to reach their full potential. Ensure that a student’s economic background or ethnicity does not dictate their success.

    • Improve communication of our academic and professional development opportunities through traditional, digital, and social media. 
  • Prepare students for college and LIF
    • Increase the funding of our CTE (Career & Technical Education) Programs, where students can learn valuable vocational skills such as cybersecurity, personal finance, 
  • Enable innovation 
    • Enable teachers to innovate and lead content and environment creation to provide students with compelling learning experiences that prepare them for life. 
  • Enhance learning
    • Leverage opportunity of both in brick-and-mortar classroom and distance learning to create a student learning experience based on integrating disciplines through projects and connecting to experts and the world outside of the classroom. 
  • Connect to community 
    • Work with local businesses and experts to provide student access to real-life projects and skills 

Safety and Security 

  • Secure School campuses 
    • Work with teachers, counselors, administrators, students, and parent committees to develop and implement comprehensive protocols and procedures to secure our campuses both from physical and biological concerns. 
  • Increase the number of mental health  specialists 
    • Increase funding for mental health specialists and counselors so that students have the appropriate access to whatever help they need. 
  • Participate in School Safety Pilot Programs 
    • Explore opportunities to innovate school safety solutions
  • Fund College and Career Advising 
    • Provide students with the appropriate college and career advising and personal counseling they need 
  • Fund Conflict Prevention 
    • Support teachers to add to their skill set awareness and strategies for managing behaviors for effective classroom management
  • Provide Cultural sensitivity and School Emergency Training 
    • Continue to support cultural sensitivity and education programs so that our schools and classrooms are inclusive and sensitive to the different backgrounds of every student.

Space to Learn

  • Shrink classroom sizes 
    • Find solutions to decrease student-to-teacher rations in our classroom, in both physical and distance learning models. 
  • Repair and improve existing infrastructure 
    • Update and repair our internet infrastructure, including bandwidth, and new servers, updating our websites to be more accessible and easier to navigate. 
  • Improve relationship and collaboration with City
    • Work very closely with city planners to ensure the city and school planning are in line with what we can successfully support in our school, and so the board can determine how best to use our resources.

  • Limit budget impact 
    • Make thoughtful and aware decisions given the current budget crisis, while maintaining a commitment to teachers and students to provide them resources enabling them to reach their best potentials. 
  • Recruit and Retain the Best Teachers
    • Offer competitive salary packages to that San Marcos Unified School District can recruit and retain the best educators 
  • Intelligent per-student spending    
    • Spend enough on per-student to ensure all students receive the best education possible.
